There are different membership options for people interested
in volunteering with the SCVFD.

Firefighter
EMS First Responder
Auxiliary Member
Cadet

Currently the SCVFD has 7 firefighters who respond to emergencies. We would like to increase this number to help the department meet the increase in call volume that is occurring due to growth in the region. No experience is required. There is a complete training course provided. Safety is our number one priority with new recruits.

The Silver City Fire Department has one EMT and while Silver City has a limited number of medical calls, it is helpful to have members in town to respond to a local emergency while waiting for advanced medical care. Full training is provided to volunteers interested.

Our support members are invaluable. These members do not need
to respond to emergencies but are essential in helping our
organization run. Support members have many different roles
and anyone can be a support member.

The SCVFD has recently started developing a cadet program.
Enthusiastic, energetic, and responsible youths between 16 and 18 are eligible for membership under the cadet program.
